KDI School student and alumnus awarded for MBN Economic Research Paper Competition & the Ten Outstanding Young People of Colombia
Congratulations! Mr. Hyungjung KIM, who is currently enrolled at KDI School to obtain his master’s in Development Policy, has won the first place in the Economic Research Paper Competition held by the Maeil Business Newspaper. His paper titled “Does Higher Education in Korea Matter? The Effect of Tertiary Education on Labor Market Performance and Wage” explores the factors that affect high unemployment problem among youth in South Korea by looking into the trends of both the economically active and inactive population in the last ten years, and focuses on the mismatch between the field of study in college and the actual duties at workplace.
Another great news is that Mr. Jose andres Duarte GARCIA, a KDI School alumnus who completed his MDP in 2015 has been nominated as one of the Ten Outstanding Young People (TYOP) of Colombia. Mr. DUARTE GARCIA is currently the Deputy Director of Promotion and Marketing of the District Institute of Tourism and a professor in the Master of Management for Development at the Faculty of Finance, Government and International Relations of the Externado University of Colombia. The recognition of the Ten Outstanding Young People of the World has been present in Colombia for 45 years, to formally recognize young people who excel in their chosen fields and exemplify the best attributes of the Colombian young people.
