Students, professors, faculty members and guests of the KDI School gathered together on November 2 to celebrate one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the school — the 19th International Food Festival. An appetizing aroma settled over the campus as students from more than 30 countries forged into12 teams represented their diverse cultures through a display of mouth-watering cuisine.
The curiosity of both students and faculty who had both a challenge and an opportunity to try out different food items from various countries was satisfied. The traditional voting procedure was resorted to select the three best winning groups of the festival.
The Best Food Award went to the “Spice House” team that put up several exotic and delightful foods like Kyrgyz Plov, Shish Kebab, Pakistani Biryani, pakoras, Indian Alu Paratha and Gajjar ka Halwa, and deserts like the Turkish Gul Tatlisi. Two teams tied for the second place. They were the “12th Player” team which served Malaysian cuisine and the “Intercontinental Dishes” team that provided dishes made by students from the African continent.
There was more excitement because the Korean GMP students held a flea market during the festival that also enabled the senior and new students to enter into friendly engagements and conversations. This open bazaar also gave students the opportunity to buy warm outfits for the winter season at low prices.
The traditional International Food Festival at KDIS is the best time to experience a wide variety of pleasant-tasting dishes all in one day and for all the participants to share unforgettable moments together. It was indeed a day to remember!
