On the sunny Saturday of May 25, our alumni, faculty, and staff gathered at the Dongnimmun Station to participate in the 2019 Alumni Spring Event.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the March First Independence Movement. To commemorate the anniversary and celebrate our ancestors’ spirits in their fight to become free from Japanese colonial rule, a historical exploration at the Seodaemun Prison History Hall was organized, with about 70 members in attendance.

The participants were divided into four groups with one guide for each group. For approximately three hours, they visited the historical sites and meaningful areas, including underground prisons, a torture chamber, and execution sites where Korean freedom fighters against Japanese colonial rule were sacrificed. Throughout this tour, the guide provided detailed and interesting explanations based on historical accounts.

After the program finished, the participants had a luncheon and shared the latest news on themselves and the school with each other. During the luncheon, one of the alumni stated that this year of Alumni Spring Event was worthwhile in that school members were not only able to have the opportunity to interact with each other but were also able to share meaningful moments at the historical sites with the faculty, old friends, and their family members.
